Half marathon tip for newbies - 3 tips

  1. Don't burn yourself out in the first 500 metres of a half marathon - start off to fast and it can have a effect your race. If you are new to half marathons take heed of this. Start off slower the first 1km and warm into the race.
  2. Make sure you eat breakfast in plenty of time, 2-3 hours I have found optimal - you need time for the body to digest the food.
  3. Don't drink fluid half an hour before the race - drink too much and you could end up in the toilet over the first 5 km
